Route of cheese and dairy
Asturias is one of the communities with the highest milk production in the country and the biggest cheese producer of Spain. More than 40 cheeses are elaborated all around the Asturias Principality, among all of them, four cheeses have D.O.P. (Protected Appellation of Origin), these are Cabrales, Gamoneu, Afuega’l Pitu and Casín; and another one, Los Beyos, has I.G.P. (Protected Geographical Indication).
Route of flavours of the sea
Around 350km of steep cliffs, small and big coves, pronounced capes and river estuaries form the Asturias’s coast. Small seafaring tradition villages with quality gastronomy exist in this environment.
Wine route of Cangas
Asturias is not a land known for its wines, none the less, in the region of Cangas, the millenary tradition of vine farming is still preserved to this day. It is the only Asturian wine with Protected Appelation of Origin, which acknowledge its quality and tradition. The steep slopes in which is cultivated and the lack of work mechanization have given it the qualification of “heroic viticulture”.
Cider route
Asturias and cider always walk along each other. It is inseparable from the Asturian culture, personality and gastronomy. Tasting this kind of drink in a real Asturian cider bar is quite an experience.
Route of countryside flavours
Asturian fabada is the face of Asturian gastronomy, but it is not the only exceptional dish of Asturias. Go through the countryside villages of Asturias and discover the authentic Faba de Asturias, the Asturian cow and the “chosco de Tineo” (pork cold meat).
